Jenna Kowalke (Washington, DC) is a Boston-based artist working with photography and mixed media to examine how communication and messages are formed, adapted, and strained by political, environmental, and institutional pressures.
Her practice is shaped by archival research and material experimentation. Her work draws from historical communication systems such as bone music records and letterlocking, focusing on how communication—materially and conceptually—endures, erodes, or becomes a tool for resistance.
She holds a BFA in Art Studio and Art History, an MA in Art History and Museum Studies, and a Certificate in Graphic and Digital Design. Jenna is co-founder of BLUE SKIES, a Munich art collective addressing climate issues.
