Institutional authority as it seeps in, erodes, gets contested, and transforms. Four images taken across a decade in different cities: yellow paint seemingly leaking from a concrete step, official stop sign degraded into illegibility, an institutional building behind a banner with images of classical sculptures intersected by red graffiti along a barbed wire fence, and an American flag censored by Instagram's algorithm.
The title refers to the space between holding and breaking, where systems of power and authority show their framework and fragility most clearly.
