Paper forms shaped around river rocks are gradually saturated with text adapted from a New York Times headline: “Can We ENGINEER PROTEST LEGISLATE Our Way Out of the Climate Crisis?” By inserting additional words into the original headline, the work considers the limits of technological intervention, political protest, and legislative action in addressing environmental collapse.
As ink spreads through the paper, the language breaks down into illegibility. The rocks that shaped the forms are removed, leaving only hollow, saturated shells.
